Making Tax Digital is coming for landlords

From April 2026, landlords and sole traders earning over £50,000 will be legally required to keep digital records and submit quarterly updates to HMRC under Making Tax Digital for Income Tax. The threshold drops further in 2027 and 2028. Many property investors are unaware this is coming — or what it means for how they currently manage their finances.
